Hampus Melin (SWE/D; drums and percussion)
born in Malmö/Sweden. Five years music studies at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen/Denmark. Began playing klezmer after moving to Berlin in 2005 and joining Daniel Kahn & the Painted Bird with whom his made three records and toured extensively in both Europe and North America.
Since 2012 he leads the klezmer band You Shouldn't Know From It (CD “It’s Klezmer!”, Danzone/Oriente 2015). Currently also playing with Brothers Nazaroff (CD “The Happy Prince”, Smithsonian/Folkways 2015), the theater production “Enemies – a love story” (Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin) as well as the Berlin jazz trio Halb Sechs.
Together with Emil Goldschmidt and Ilya Shneyveys he founded the much loved series of Neukölln Klezmer Sessions.
