Yoéd Sorek (IL/D, voice)
Yoed Sorek was born in Jerusalem. As a child he sang as soloist with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by C. Abbado. He graduated from the Jerusalem Academy and the Royal Academy in the Hague as well as a master specialization in ensemble singing and directing from S. Cantorum, Basel. He is an active performer as singer, director and accompanist in a broad span of musical fields, focusing on Jewish music, Cantoral as well as folk music and Yiddish art songs. He conducted the Munich, Basel and Strassbourg Synagogue Choirs and sung with those of Jerusalem, Esnoga and ASK in Amsterdam. He performs regularly at music festivals and events, and currently tours with a program based on traditional Yiddish songs as he learned from his grandmother and in her memory: Sima’s Songs.
